Pasta Puttanesca is a popular Italian dish made from olive oil, garlic, anchovy, black olives, and tomatoes. It is well known for its earthy and hot taste that goes well with red wine.

The origin of the name “pasta puttanesca” which means like a whore is still debated. According to stories, the dish got its name because of its hot, spicy, and pungent flavor. Here is a quick yet yummy recipe that you can do in your own kitchen:

Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 4 to 6 cloves of garlic
  • 1 can of anchovies
  • 1 red pepper flakes
  • 1 cup of black olives
  • 1 can of crushed tomatoes
  • Freshly ground black pepper
  • Salt
  • Grated parmesan cheese

Directions:

In a large skillet, pour over the olive oil, garlic, pepper, and the anchovies. Allow the ingredients to sauté until the anchovies dissolve into oil and until the garlic is tender.

Next, add the capers, tomatoes, black olives, and pepper. Dash in some salt and mix everything thoroughly.

Toss in your cooked pasta. Make sure that every pasta strand is coated with the sauce.
